    Not only is it not a local, but it's also a publically traded Nasdaq company that you can follow by punching in the ticker "OATS". It's barely more than a penny stock: $7.20 down 0.35 today.

    Weren't they owned by GNC (as in the vitamin shop in the Mall) between being locally owned and then taken over by Wild Oats? I seem to recall that in that era they closed down their original, funky John's Landing shop and opened the yuppified Lake Oswego mega Natures, complete with "Natures Club Cards" that tracked your purchases. Of course, they were smart enough not to tinker too much with the SE Division Street location...
